In Office Teeth Whitening Procedure
The whitening system of choice in our office is Brite Smile. We have found it to be significantly more effective than any other brand on the market. Teeth whitening is a dental procedure where a patient’s teeth are lightened through the use of a derivative of hydrogen peroxide by erasing and taking out the unaesthetic stains. As a result, the teeth look much whiter and brighter. Patients who opt to undergo the teeth whitening process can either do it in an in-office setting or at home with whitening trays.
The teeth whitening process is highly suitable for people who are unhappy with the color of their teeth, insecure when they smile and feel that their yellow teeth make them look less healthy.
What happens during the teeth whitening procedure?
Typically, a teeth whitening procedure in an in-office setting takes around two hours to complete. The process will take place while you sit relaxed in the dental office and watch a movie. At first, a bleaching material will be applied onto your teeth. The dentist will then use a laser or light that forces the peroxide to become oxygen molecules and attack the stains. After about two hours, your teeth will look several shades lighter than before.
Who should not have their teeth whitened?
However, teeth whitening is not recommended for children and patients who have numerous restorations in their front teeth. These restorations include dental treatment devices like crowns and large fillings. Performing teeth whitening on them is useless since they don’t change color like normal teeth.
